So, you’ve been told that your answer to a question is problematic. How do you respond? If you apologize and correct your behaviour, good for you! If you defend your shitty behaviour and don’t make changes to how you address certain things, you are a shitty person! 

Racism, sexism, transphobia, and homophobia are all serious issues that are very much alive. If you answer a question in a racist, sexist, transphobic or homophobic way, chances are someone in the roleplay community is going to tell you so. Typically, people are fairly nice when correcting you, because most people know that not everyone has the same education and knowledge as others. They tell you what you’ve said is wrong, and it’s your job to educate yourself further. If you ignore this or say that what you’re saying is perfectly fine, you are in the wrong. No. Bad. Shitty behaviour. You are a part of the problem.

Today’s issue is casting siblings. Ignoring a faceclaim’s ethnicity is erasure. Just because two people have similar skin tones does not mean they’re they same ethnicity. Just because Television and Movies ignore ethnicities doesn’t mean you can too. It’s wrong. If you don’t acknowledge that, you’re wrong. No one can force you to change, but if you want to be a decent human being, you could, at the very least, listen to what people are saying and educate yourself about what shitty choices you’re making.
